Former Argentine president Cristina Fernández questioned the current president, Javier Milei, about his participation in the launch of the cryptocurrency $LIBRA, accusing him of being responsible for the 'crypto fiasco' that caused the collapse of the currency and harmed thousands of investors. In a post on her social media profile, Fernández expressed that Milei is "falling apart" due to this incident.
In her criticism, Fernández pointed out that Milei's promotion of $LIBRA through an advertisement post on the network led to a scam that left investors in a compromised situation. The former president mentioned that the promotional publication of the cryptocurrency included details such as the possibility to trade it minutes after its creation and with bank data, which facilitated the scam.
Additionally, Fernández referred to a television interview in which Milei defended the $LIBRA project as a way to finance small entrepreneurs, but then compared the investment to gambling activities like betting in a casino or playing Russian roulette, which generated controversy. The former leader criticized the contradiction in Milei's statements and questioned the integrity of the interview process.
At another point, Fernández mentioned a fragment of the interview where an advisor of Milei interrupted to prevent the president from saying something legally compromising. The former president highlighted this situation as an attempt to manipulate the interview to protect Milei's image and avoid legal consequences.
Finally, Fernández reminded Milei that the promotion of $LIBRA on social media was not consistent with the supposed goal of supporting small and medium-sized Argentine businesses, highlighting the confusion and controversy surrounding this project.
